The China Federation of Internet Societies(CFIS)was founded in Beijing in May 2018, which is a national, joint, and pivotal non-profit social organization formed by civil society organizations and related institutions in the field of Cybersecurity & Informatization.
The China Federation of Internet Societies (CFIS) currently has 526 member organizations, covering 14 industry sectors including cybersecurity, Internet communication, and e-commerce, with a presence in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across China. In November 2022, it was recognized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as an “AAAAA National Social Organization.”
The purposes of CFIS, under the leadership of the Party and government, are to actively play the role of bridge to coordinate the resources of all parties in society, promote the development of Internet Civil Societies, rally their strength and strengthen their role, guide them to learn from each other and make common improvement, and enhance individual vitality and improve the overall level of work.
The Business Scopes of CFIS
1. Organizing Internet Civil Societies and relevant institutions to carefully learn, publicize, and implement the CPC’s and China’s policies, as well as relevant laws and regulations;
2.Coordinating and advancing the Party-building work of Internet societies nationwide, advancing effective coverage of Party organizations and Party-related work within these organizations;
3. Conducting research on hotspot issues, major problems, and difficult issues in the development of Cybersecurity & Informatization undertakings, issuing statistical data and research reports, and providing policy recommendations to the Party and relevant government departments, while offering information services to relevant institutions;
4. Organizing Internet societies and relevant institutions to strengthen positive online publicity, actively voicing their opinions, and spread positive energy on the Internet;
5. Establishing a platform for communication and cooperation, and promoting and expanding communication and cooperation between Internet societies, relevant institutions, and other aspects of society;
6. With approval from relevant government departments, formulating and revising relevant standards in Cybersecurity and Informatization, evaluating the implementation of relevant standards and promoting the implementation of standards and the development of industry norms;
7. Organizing professional training in regard to laws and regulations, management, and technology, so as to improve the management and service level of member organizations and improve the professional ability of employees in the industry;
8. Carrying out work related to industry self-discipline, constructing a self-discipline system for the Cybersecurity and Informatization industry, promoting enterprises in the Cybersecurity and Informatization industry to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, and, under the guidelines of the competent business units, carrying out assessment of duties of the Internet Civil Societies, and Cybersecurity and Informatization enterprises on a regular basis;
9. Participating in comprehensive governance of the network, promoting the innovation of the governance mode, establishing and improving the mechanism and platform for Internet societies and relevant institutions to carry out social work both online and offline;
10. Strengthening the work of discovering, cultivating, recommending, using, and liaising with Cybersecurity & Informatization talents;
11. Organizing civil exchanges and cooperation with international organizations and those of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in the field of Cybersecurity and Informatization, and participating in the formulation of international norms and standards in the field of Cybersecurity and Informatization;
12. As entrusted by relevant government departments, strengthening supervision, management, and operational guidance of relevant Internet societies;
13. Organizing and coordinating Internet social organizations and relevant institutions to actively participate in public welfare activities such as building Internet credibility and rural revitalization;
14. Undertaking other matters entrusted by government departments, members, and other institutions that align with the purpose of the Federation.
