Special Event on Online Protection for Minors Held in Beijing by CFIS Committee

On April 17, the CFIS Professional Committee on Cybersecurity for Minors held a special event at the National Law-Related Education and Practice Exemplary Base for Juveniles in Beijing. Representatives from the CFIS Secretariat and Beijing Foreign Studies University attended and delivered speeches, along with over 20 representatives from member organizations of the committee.

Themed Online Protection for Minors in Practice: Cases and Reflections, the event highlighted key issues and developments in safeguarding minors in the digital space. Pan Ruifang, Director of the Editorial Department at BFSU’s National Law-Related Education Center for Juveniles, introduced the center’s current initiatives. Attendees toured its exemplary base to gain deeper insights into innovative approaches and achievements in youth legal education. Yu Xukun, Executive Director of Beijing Childrens Legal Aid and Research Center, shared real-life cases of minors’ online rights being infringed and presented innovations in legal aid mechanisms for the youth.

During the event, representatives from various member organizations praised the achievements of institutions such as BFSUs center and its exemplary base, as well as Beijing Childrens Legal Aid and Research Center, for their impactful work in protecting minors online.

They emphasized that in the digital age, minors face growing safety risks, and protecting minors online is a responsibility shared by all sectors of society. Participants called for strengthened collaboration and communication to jointly build a robust safety network for minors in cyberspace.
