The 5th China New E-commerce Conference was held in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, on July 27. Niu Yibing, Vice Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China and President of CFIS, attended the opening ceremony and main forum, where he delivered a speech.
Niu highlighted that the conference seeks to foster a platform for collaboration and exchange, driving the deep integration of digital technology with the real economy to strengthen and expand China’s digital economy. To achieve high-quality growth in new e-commerce, he stressed the need to advance intelligent digital technologies, fuel industry expansion, cultivate unique brands, and elevate industry standards. He also underscored the importance of regulated development to build a robust industry ecosystem and collaboration to unlock new opportunities for sector growth.
Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, highlighted China’s strong commitment to developing digital trade, especially cross-border e-commerce. In 2024, China’s cross-border e-commerce import and export volume grew by 10.8%, raising its share to 6% of the total foreign trade volume. More businesses are expanding by “selling globally,” while consumers worldwide benefit from “buying globally.” The conference, themed “A New Era of Digital Intelligence, A New Value for E-commerce,” aligns with current industry trends and holds significant practical value.
Cao Lubao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and Director of Jilin’s Publicity Department, stated that Jilin is committed to the new development philosophy and is using the conference to shape, nurture, and lead the growth and industrial upgrade of the province’s e-commerce sector, while also promoting a positive regional image. Moving forward, Jilin plans to fully leverage the conference’s impact by promoting the flow of resources through digital-real integration, driving industrial digitalization through technological innovation, enhancing e-commerce cultural value with a focus on content production, and supporting Jilin’s overall revitalization and development.
At the opening ceremony, the 2025 China New E-commerce Report was unveiled, highlighting standout success stories in the growth of new e-commerce. Certificates were presented to representatives of these inspiring cases. The main forum included keynote speeches and presentations. The event also announced the fourth group of top livestreamers or streaming teams as part of the Rising Livestream Stars Program, kicked off the Quality Streamer Support Initiative, and launched the Global Marketplace Project to boost cross-border sales and exhibitions.
The conference featured sub-forums covering topics like technology innovation, integrated growth, cross-border e-commerce, sustainability, and social responsibility. It also included two key activities: an industry networking event and a Jilin ginseng exhibition, focused on boosting consumption and supporting livelihoods. Additionally, a series of supporting events took place, such as the New E-commerce Growth Plan, the China Livestreaming Talent Competition, and the Quality Streamer Support Initiative.
