CFIS hosts the virtual kick-off meeting for the guidelines on AI-powered kid-friendly apps and global promotion of “AI for Kids” on March 15. Representatives from Communication University of China (CUC), China National Institute of Standardization, Tencent, etc. discuss the new app guidelines as well as implementation prospects and future plans and emphasize the significance of the global promotion of the AI for Kids Program.
With the help of the United Nations Children's Fund and CUC, CFIS started the AI for Kids Program in 2021 and published AI for Kids: Research Report on AI Applications for Kids. CFIS plans to started the global promotion of the program for the purpose of expanding its influence. Inspiring exemplars of great societal benefit will be selected and promoted on multiple occasions such as national exhibitions, international conferences to motivate AI companies to shoulder social responsibilities and protect children's rights, and present imitable AI-based apps for children to the international society.
As one of the first CFIS-proposed association standards approved by the government in 2022, Guidelines on AI-powered Internet Applications for Kids is well-received by the industry and supported by CFIS’s government supervisor. As a groundbreaking strategic technology in a new era of technological and industrial revolution, AI is changing people’s lives and the world profoundly in terms of providing tailored study plans, improving public health and hygiene and facilitating the realization of children’s right. Standardized industrial supervision is key to a safe online environment powered by AI for kids. However, official guidelines on apps are lacking, so the new guidelines have practical implications.
