2022 Child Online Protection Conference Held in Beijing

       On June 20, the 2022 Child Online Protection Conference was held in Beijing. Themed “Making Vigorous Efforts for New Progress, Securing Cybersecurity for Minors”, the conference aimed to thoroughly implement the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Minors and other applicable laws and regulations, enhance the building of a minor-friendly cyberspace, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of minors, and promote their physical and psychological health.

       Gu Xiulian, vice chairman of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and director of China Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, Sheng Ronghua, deputy head of both the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Cyberspace Administration of China, and Jing Dunquan, a member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation attended and addressed the conference. Ren Xianliang, vice chairman of the NPC Social Development Affairs Committee and president of China Federation of Internet Societies, presided over the conference. At the meeting, the inauguration ceremony of the CFIS Professional Committee on Cybersecurity for Minors was held and its primary tasks for the year 2022 were reported. In addition, Research Report on the Current Situation of Cybersecurity for Minors and Guidance on AI-based Internet Applications for Children were released. The launching ceremony of “2022·Typical Case Exhibition of AI for Children” was held.

       The conference, co-organized by CFIS and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, received advice from the NPC Social Development Affairs Committee, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation,China Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, the Comprehensive Internet Governance Bureau of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, and the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Young League. Over 80 guests from government departments, civil society organizations, Internet enterprises, research institutions and the press attended the conference online and offline.
